Jays Beat St. Amant Gators in Basketball Season Opener, 77-57

The Blue Jay Basketball team opened its season at home against St. Amant High School Thursday, Nov. 21 with a 77-57 win. Senior Grant Nichols led the Jays with 25 points, and senior Riley Conroy added 20. Sophomore Robert Weiss added 11 off the bench to go along with nine rebounds. As a team, the Blue Jays forced 17 turnovers.
The Jays started hot, posting a 20-8 lead after the first quarter. They extended their lead to 42-25 at halftime. They never looked back, pulling away to a 77-57 victory.
The Blue Jays return to action Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they host the All-State Sugar Bowl CYO Tournament in the Birdcage.
