The baseball team opened the Division I (select) state playoffs by sweeping Tioga in a two-game regional series, advancing to the quarterfinals. The No. 6 Blue Jays claimed a 5-1 victory on Friday before solidifying a 15-3 win on Saturday, outscoring the Indians 20-4 across the series.

In Game 1, the Jays relied on a dominant outing on the mound from junior Jackson Dugan, who threw a complete game. He allowed just two hits and one unearned run over seven innings while striking out six.

The Jays offense provided early support, scoring in the first inning when senior Brennan Jeansonne delivered an RBI single. The team continued to manufacture runs behind timely hitting, with Jeansonne and senior Derek DeLatte each driving in two runs. Senior Michael Brothers paced the offense from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-3, as Jesuit combined solid pitching, defense, and situational hitting to secure the opening win.

The Blue Jays carried that momentum into Saturday’s Game 2 and broke things open offensively. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, they responded quickly in the second. Sophomore Logan Nelson delivered a two-run triple to give the Jays the lead, and DeLatte followed with an RBI groundout to make it 3-1.

Jesuit extended its advantage in the third inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from DeLatte. The infielder finished with five RBIs on the day, providing a key spark from the lower half of the lineup.

The Jays put the game out of reach in the fifth inning, scoring six runs on five hits. Jeansonne capped the inning with a two-run triple as part of a 3-for-4 performance. Senior Griffin Jeandron, Nelson, and others contributed to a balanced offensive effort that produced 12 hits.

On the mound, senior Maes Martin earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits over five innings while striking out three and not issuing a walk.

Across the two games, the baseball team showcased its depth on both sides of the ball, combining strong pitching performances with timely and explosive offense.

With the regional sweep, the Blue Jays advance to the Division I quarterfinals, where they will face No. 3 John Curtis.
