Indoor Track and Field Claims State Runner-Up

The Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Baton Rouge to compete in the Division I LHSAA High School Indoor State Championships, finishing as the state runner-up against the top competitors in Louisiana. Junior Ja’ir Burks broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, placing first as a state champion with a time of 7.88 seconds. Senior Spencer Waguespack set a new school record in the indoor shot put with a throw of 17.04 meters.
Additional standouts included junior David Quintana‘s second (9:19:03) and senior Nick Accardo‘s third (9:20:44) in the 3200-meter run and the team of senior Finn Connolly, junior Patrick Smith, junior PJ Fitzmorris, and sophomore Rhys Grant‘s third (8:11.47) in the 4×800-meter relay. All results are as follows:
Burks – 1st place in 60m hurdles (7.88)
Quintana – 2nd place in 3200m (9:19:03)
Accardo – 3rd place in 3200m (9:20:44)
Connolly, Smith, Fitzmorris, and Grant – 3rd place in 4x800m relay (8:11.47)
Waguespack – 4th place in shot put (17.04m)
Senior Connor Fanberg – 4th place in 1600m (4:22.43)
Senior Drago Cvitanovich – 8th place in pole vault (3.95m)
