In a hard-fought victory, the soccer team defeated Brother Martin 4-2 in its final district match of the regular season. The win capped an undefeated regular season for the Blue Jays, who finished 18-0-2 and clinched the No. 1 seed in the LHSAA Division I playoffs.

The Blue Jays entered the matchup riding strong momentum, having defeated recent opponents down the stretch. Jesuit earned a convincing 8-0 district win over Chalmette on January 17 before following up with a 7-0 shutout of John Ehret on January 20. On January 23, the Jays continued their unbeaten run with a 3-0 road victory over Teurlings Catholic, one of the state’s top programs, setting the stage for the regular-season finale against Brother Martin on February 2.

Brother Martin opened the scoring early, finding the net just 1:30 into the match. The Jays responded when sophomore Alex Rousselle stepped up and calmly converted a penalty kick to even the match at 1-1. Brother Martin later regained the lead, but junior Casey Parker-Karst answered with a perfectly struck free kick in the opening half to bring the Jays level once again.

Jesuit took control in the second half when Parker-Karst won possession with a strong tackle and played the ball forward to sophomore Jacob Kee, who dribbled past two defenders with quick moves before finishing at the back post to give the Blue Jays the lead. Late in the match, Rousselle fired a shot that deflected off a defender and fell to a well-positioned Parker-Karst, who faked his shot to send both the defender and goalkeeper the wrong way before calmly slotting the ball into the back post in the 87th minute, sealing the 4-2 victory.

With the regular season complete, Jesuit now turns its attention to the postseason.

The Blue Jays will host Sulphur in the bi-district round of the state playoffs on Friday, Febraury 6 at John Ryan Stadium with kick-off set for 3:30 p.m. Admission is $10.00 for adults and students (non-Jesuit and non-Sulphur) and $5.00 for children (ages 6–11) and Jesuit and Sulphur students with ID.
