Blue Jay swimmers turned in a championship-caliber performance this past weekend at the LHSAA Division I State Swimming Championship in Sulphur, finishing as state runner-up with 327.5 points. The Blue Jays delivered standout efforts across the board, highlighted by multiple new composite state records and dominant swims from senior Aidan Villars.

Villars capped off his swimming career with an exceptional showing, earning two individual state championships and setting two new composite state records. Villars won the 100-yard butterfly in 48.09, just one day after breaking the composite state record during Friday’s prelims with a time of 47.86. He followed that performance with a commanding victory in the 100-yard backstroke, winning in 48.38 and securing another composite state record for the Blue Jays. Both swims earned him automatic All-America honors.

Jesuit’s momentum began early with a record-setting performance in the 200-yard medley relay, where seniors Grant Castillon, Ben Breithaupt, Villars, and sophomore Conor Samuels broke the composite state record, previously set by Jesuit in 2023, with a first place time of 1:33.56. The relay earned All-America consideration and energized the team from the start.

With their runner-up finish, the Blue Jays extended a remarkable stretch of success—this is the Blue Jays third consecutive second-place finish, following back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022. The team’s performance in Sulphur displayed the resilience, teamwork, and competitive spirit that fuels Jesuit’s swim program enduring tradition of excellence.
