Senior James Denning has attained the highest score of 36 on the ACT®. Denning previously attended St. Pius X and is the son of CAPT Matthew Denning, USCG (Retired) and CAPT Kelly Denning, USCG (Retired).

In addition to his academic achievements, Denning has served as secretary of the Mu Alpha Theta board and has been an active member of the Swim Team, Youth and Government (Model UN), St. Joseph Society, and Sodality.

Beyond his academic and leadership responsibilities, Denning actively volunteers with various service organizations, including Jo Jo’s Hope, where he coaches activity programs for individuals with physical and mental limitations. He is also involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New Orleans (CCRNO) and Operation Upgrade. His dedication to service complements his involvement with the crew swim team and other extracurricular commitments.

Denning plans to attend the University of Chicago to study Economics.

Above all, Jesuit relentlessly pursues God’s greater glory. While students’ academic accolades reflect the school’s mission, they are not the mission itself. They instead signify that Blue Jays are becoming the men that they were made to be: men of faith and men for others.

Alongside celebrating students who attain these academic accomplishments, Jesuit also highlights graduating seniors who are named winners of highly selective merit-based national scholarship competitions. Click here to read about more of these students.
