The tennis team has had a commendable start to its season with victories against Brother Martin, Rummel, and Willow School. The Jays’ recent competitions have showcased the team’s depth-of-roster. Participating in the Catholic Bear Invitational, the Blue Jays secured wins against Catholic in the semi-final match with a close score of 5-4 and triumphed over St. Thomas More in the championship game with an identical score, clinching the tournament title. Their success continued at the McGill-Toolan tournament in Alabama, where they finished as runners-up, further cementing their strong start to the season.

Coach Scott Schlesinger praised the team’s depth as a pivotal factor in their victories, noting, “We have strong players on the front line, but players 4-10 are just as capable of stepping into any spot on any given day. Our depth is the reason we are winning.”

Schlesinger also commended senior Jude Laforge for his leadership qualities, highlighting his positive attitude and work ethic as inspirational for the team.

“Jude is a great player to have on the team,” he noted. “His attitude is infectious, showing what working hard as an athlete truly means. Nothing is given to him; he’s always working for it.”

Most recently, the Blue Jays secured a victory against Newman. Looking ahead, a crucial match awaits on Tuesday, March 26, at City Park at 3 p.m. against a formidable Brother Martin team.
