Win Over Holy Cross Gives Bowlers District Title

Led by seniors Gary Sims, Luke Wood, Collin Pearce, and Josh Barraza, the Jesuit bowling team defeated Holy Cross 27-0 on Monday, Feb. 22, to earn the LHSAA District #1 District championship. The match took place at AMF in Kenner.

Both schools were undefeated in district competition heading into the contest.

Sims, one of the team’s co-captains and its most consistent bowler, recorded a 255, 223, and 213 for a 691 series. Barazza recorded games of 235 and 205. Pearce rolled a 241, while Wood posted a 226. Junior two-handed bowler Preston Roark rolled a 214.

Jesuit won the final pin count 3,432 to 2,362.

The Jays face Catholic High, the team they beat to win the Louisiana High School Invitational in Baton Rouge less than a week ago, on Thursday, Feb. 24. at AMF. The match will be live streamed by Crescent City Sports. You can watch the event beginning at 3:30 by clicking HERE.
