Jesuit Bowlers Kick Off Season with Back-to-Back Victories

The Varsity Bowling Team was on fire this week, figurately speaking. They set the lanes ablaze with back-to-back victories, beating Kenner Discovery, 27-0 on Monday and Rummel, 24-3 on Thursday .

Monday’s Game

Monday’s game against the Swamp Owls was a shut out with junior Colin Pearce leading the team rolling the highest game of the match with a 245. Senior Ben Hunn recorded an impressive three-game series with a 662 (218-206-238), and Luke Wood followed not far behind with a 616 series (206-206-204).

Thursday’s Game

On Thursday’s match the Blue Jays rolled over the Raiders, 24-3. Jesuit set the tone of the game in the very first match with 5 out of 6 bowlers posting well above 200 and winning all 6 match-ups. Notably, Gary Sims almost rolled a perfect game starting out his match-up with a “turkey” (3 strikes consecutively), a 9/0 in the 4th frame, and finishing out with a “Little Big Pete” (eight strikes consecutively) recording a match-high of 267. Also, with consecutive sting of strikes in their matches were William Carpenter opening his set with a “wild turkey” (6 strikes) posting a 257 and Michael McGovern closing his set with “Ham-Turkey Dinner” (7 strikes) posting a 238. By the second match Jesuit secured a victory winning 4 out of the 6 match-ups against Rummel, taking off the pressure for the third match. In the end the Blue Jay bowlers won 15 of 18 games, winning the overall pin total by more than 600.
