On Thursday, Dec. 18, 2020, a number of Jesuit African-American students gathered in St. Ignatius Hall for the first meeting of the Jesuit Mentorship Program led by Emile Bagneris ’85 and Darren Mire ’86.

“We are here to give these students a voice,” Bagneris said. “To let them know that we loved going through here and can help them at Jesuit and, most importantly, beyond.”

Jesuit alumni mentors are paired with students for their entire Jesuit experience. Some mentees interact with their mentors up to 4 times a week for lessons on how to proceed through Jesuit and through life.

The mentorship provides advice on life at Jesuit, academic support, a familiar voice to talk to, college and career direction, and much more.
