On Saturday, Feb. 29, young alumni from Jesuit teamed up with members of the Mid-City Neighborhood Organization (MCNO) and the NOLA Trash Mob to do a sweep of streets in the neighborhood.

Held one week following Mid-City’s Endymion parade, the clean up canvased the blocks surrounding Jesuit to beautify public areas that had collected Mardi Gras throws and other parade trash from increased foot traffic working through the neighborhood.

NOLA Trash Mob provided the clean-up materials for the day of service, and representative Patrick Armstrong was on hand to explain the mission of the organization to volunteers. All of the debris collected would have otherwise ended up in the storm drains and eventually polluted waterways surrounding the metro area.

The day of service represents one of the many benefits of the recently formed neighborhood standing committee which has increased collaboration between the school and its neighbors to make Mid-City a stronger community together.
