Chi Alpha Mu Earns High Marks at Middle School Math Tournament

Ten pre-freshmen members of Chi Alpha Mu club were in top form on Saturday, Oct. 5, as they represented Jesuit at Brother Martin’s Middle School Math Tournament. The team comprised of William Bellott, Charlie Garitty, and Pete Metzinger placed first in the Algebra I team competition. In the individual Algebra I test, Garitty placed second, Metzinger placed third and honorable mention was given to David Paul and Peter Le.  Other students participating in the tournament were Mark Johnson, Jonathan Jordan, Dylan Patel, Charlie Pullen, and Tucker Schibler.

Chi Alpha Mu, standing for Creative Adventures in Mathematics, is the National Junior Mathematics Club for middle schools. Founded in 1967, the organization was reactivated by Mu Alpha Theta in 2008 to promote enjoyment and understanding of mathematics by middle school students.
