Assembly Order #3, Day 2

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place today in the second floor chapel. Benediction will begin at 12:10.
  • The varsity football team will face Holy Cross in the 99th meeting of the Great American Rivalry Series game tonight at Tad Gormley with kickoff set for 7:15 p.m.  Tailgating and other festivities begin at 4:00 p.m.  $6.00 pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase today until 3:30 at the switchboard and in the student commons during lunch.  Both student ID’s and season passes will be accepted at the gate.
  • The Jesuit Medical Society will host its first speaker today during lunch in St. Ignatius Hall to give a presentation on prospective healthcare careers ranging from technicians to surgeons.
  • All seniors and juniors working in the Academic Support Program will will meet today during the first half of lunch in Room 304.
  • The Service and Social Justice League will hold its first meeting today during the second half of lunch in Room 132.
  • The Heavy Metal Society will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 313.
  • The Blue Jay newspaper will hold a meeting today during the second half of lunch in Room 408. Only those writers and photographers who have assignments for the next issue need attend.
  • The 8th grade football team will play Holy Cross at 10 am at Holy Cross on Saturday.
  • The Disc Golf Club will play on Saturday at 2:00 at City Park.  New members are welcome.  See Mr. Wyss for information.
  • Sophomores completing their day of service this Saturday need to check canvas for further details and permission forms. Forms should be brought with you to your service site.
  • Top’s tip of the day: Appropriate attire is required at all Jesuit functions.

Results:

  • Over the summer, several seniors participated in the American Legion Louisiana Boys State program, a leadership program which focuses on leadership in a manner of learning by doing. All participants are elected to city, parish, and state offices and a week long mock government is conducted.  This year, senior Matthew Richard was elected to the position of governor, the highest and most prestigious office at the program.  Three other students participated and were elected to various parish level offices: Dowen Fife, Josef Ernst, and Bradley Fugetta.  Congratulations.
  • Last Saturday, the Varsity Quiz Bowl team of captain Bradley Fugetta, Donald Webster, Garrison Trahant, and Michael Owers competed against 18 teams from across the Southeast. They finished third overall, and second among Louisiana teams, despite only playing with three players until Michael Owers joined them mid-day. The Junior Varsity team of captain Collin Pelitere, David Webster,  Andrew Cavignac, and Wade Rogers finished third in their division, second among Louisiana teams. Congratulations Quiz Bowl.
  • On Tuesday, the Academic Games team completed competition in the game of Propaganda. The team faced off against over 70 players from the New Orleans area. The senior division team of Matthew Dowling, Dexter Webster, Nicholas Cibilich, and Aqib Zakaria placed first. Matthew was also the top player overall. Congratulations.
  • The Beach Volleyball Squad kicked off Rivalry Week on Wednesday with a resounding victory over Holy Cross, sweeping all matches. Winning players were Michael Curlee, Jack Battaglia, Andrew Burger, Collin Catalano, Nathan Hannan, and Ben Waguespack. 
  • The following students and their dates have been elected to this year’s Homecoming Court: Freshman Jack Wangler and Seniors Max Bond, Sal DeMatteo, Marc Dougherty, Luke Eccles, Robert McMahon, and Michael Schmidt.
