celebration501auctionimage860x530Celebration 2016, Jesuit’s annual gala and auction, will be staged on one of the city’s grandest stages. The theme for this year’s event is “Blue Jays on Broadway.” It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, at The Mahalia Jackson Theater.

New for 2016 is mobile bidding, where attendees will be able to bid and check-out using their cell phones. Volunteers with tablets will assist those who want to use the more traditional method. Online advanced registration is encouraged. Patron tickets and sponsorships are available now and must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 16, to be included in the event’s official invitation. Reserve your spot by clicking here.

This year’s ‘performance’ is being ‘orchestrated’ by co-chairs Missy Duhon and Lori Frischhertz. Stacey LaCour is ‘director’ of the auction committee.

Since 2013, the event has moved from venue to venue and to different parts of the city.

“Moving the event around keeps it fresh, exciting, and keeps our supporters coming back year after year,” said Jesuit president Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J.

Mardi Gras World was the setting for the 2015 event. In 2014, Jesuit supporters gathered at Champions Square adjacent to the Superdome. Celebration 2013 was at the National World War II Museum.

Proceeds from the event are used to offset Jesuit’s operating costs, which helps keep tuition affordable for as many families as possible.

Anyone interested in donating auction items should contact Stacey LaCour at staceylacour@cox.net. Sponsorship questions should be directed to Karen DeBlieux at (504) 451-0509.
