Mother–Son Mass and Breakfast
Held at Immaculate Conception Church and The Roosevelt New Orleans, the annual tradition invited families to pause and honor the bonds between mothers and sons.

Blue Jays and their mothers came together for a morning of prayer, gratitude, and fellowship at Jesuit’s annual Mother–Son Mass and Breakfast. The day began with Mass at Immaculate Conception Church on Baronne Street, a sacred space intertwined with Jesuit’s history as the school’s original home until 1925. The liturgy, concelebrated by Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J. ’66, Fr. John Brown, S.J., and Fr. Roy Joseph, S.J., invited mothers and sons to reflect on the special bond they share.
Following Mass, families gathered at The Roosevelt New Orleans for breakfast, where conversation, laughter, and shared memories filled the room. Seniors Benjamin LeBlanc and Gareth Berner offered heartfelt reflections on the love, sacrifice, and guidance of their mothers. LeBlanc spoke about his mother’s unwavering support throughout his years at Jesuit, from the daily drive to school to her encouragement in academics, faith, and personal growth. He reminded his fellow Blue Jays of the many ways mothers quietly shape their sons’ lives and encouraged them to express their gratitude.
Berner reflected on three pillars of motherhood: unconditional love, sacrifice, and guidance. Speaking about his mother, a physician and mother of seven, he shared memories of her enthusiastic cheers from the sidelines, her constant dedication to family, and their tradition of dancing together. He encouraged his classmates to appreciate the everyday moments with their mothers, reminding them to make time for conversations, express gratitude, and never turn down an opportunity to dance with Mom.
