Coming off last spring’s Division I state championship, a familiar group of golfers has returned to the course this fall with a string of impressive performances. The latest came Monday against Brother Martin, when junior Brooks Blanchard turned in a round for the record books.

Blanchard fired a seven-under-par 29, setting a new school record as the Blue Jays defeated the Crusaders, 135-146. The remarkable round continued an impressive few days for Blanchard, who had just returned from Alexandria as the 2026 Louisiana Junior Golf Tour Champion.

At Links on the Bayou, Blanchard posted rounds of 66 and 70 to finish the two-day Tour Championship at eight-under-par. Tied with Maddox Mowad of Monroe after regulation, Blanchard headed back to the course for a playoff and ended it in memorable fashion, chipping in for birdie on the first playoff hole to claim the championship.

He was hardly the only Blue Jay near the top of the leaderboard.

Sophomore Augustin Gros finished third overall at five-under-par after rounds of 68 and 71, while senior Duke Nitcher, a Nicholls State University golf commit, finished fourth. With Blanchard taking the title, the Jays accounted for three of the top four finishers in the Overall Boys Division. Gros also claimed the Boys 15 & Under championship.

The successful weekend added to a fall that was already off to a strong start. Earlier in September, the Blue Jays defeated Archbishop Rummel, 146-205, at Chateau Golf & Country Club. Junior John Discon led the way with a two-under-par round, Gros finished at even par, and Nitcher added a one-over performance.

For Blanchard, Gros, Nitcher, and Discon, the fall continues what was a memorable run together last spring. All four were part of the lineup that captured the 2026 LHSAA Division I state championship and completed an undefeated season.
