Members of Jesuit’s Pro-Life Club traveled to Baton Rouge to participate in the Louisiana Pro-Life Youth Leadership Summit, joining high school and college students from across the state for a day of discussion, formation, and leadership at the Old State Capitol.

Hosted by Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry in partnership with Louisiana Right to Life, the summit brought students together to hear from state leaders and pro-life advocates, including Landry, Louisiana Surgeon General and OB-GYN Dr. Evelyn Griffin, nurse practitioner Ashley Steinhauer, and Louisiana Right to Life Executive Director Benjamin Clapper. The annual summit is designed to equip young people to become informed leaders and advocates within their schools and communities.

Throughout the day, the Blue Jays listened to speakers, exchanged ideas with fellow high school students, and took part in conversations centered on promoting a culture of life. The Jays also had the opportunity to present their own plans for the Pro-Life Club during the upcoming school year, sharing ways they hope to educate and engage their classmates at Carrollton & Banks.

The experience gave the students opportunities to learn about pro-life issues, deepen their commitment to the dignity of human life, and put their beliefs into action.

During Respect Life Month this October, the Pro-Life Club will host its annual baby shower drive to benefit Women’s New Life Clinic. Members of the Jesuit community are invited to donate essential baby items that will provide material support to local pregnant women and mothers in need. More information about the school-wide drive and requested items will be shared in October.
