Remembering Fr. Fitzgerald, S.J., Ten Years Later

A decade after his passing, Fr. Fitzgerald's voice endures in the homilies and addresses he left behind for those whose lives he shaped.

Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J. '76 is the main celebrant of the monthly Mass held Thursday, April 10 in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs for the Jesuit community of students, faculty, and staff. The April Mass is the last one of the 2013-14 school year before Fr. Fitzgerald steps down as president of Jesuit next month to focus on his health and fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease. Father Fitz, you will always be in our hearts and in our prayers.

September 17 marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., ’76, former president of Jesuit High School. Following a diagnosis with Lou Gehrig’s disease, Fr. Fitzgerald stepped down as president in 2014. Known as an insightful orator and steady spiritual guide, Fr. Fitzgerald’s legacy at Jesuit High School continues through the many teachers and alumni who were transformed by his life and ministry.
