Breakfast with the President
Families of incoming Blue Jays gathered to hear school leadership speak on formation, parental partnership, and the traditions that shape life at Jesuit.

New Blue Jay parents gathered for Breakfast with the President, an opportunity to meet fellow parents and hear from school leadership about the years ahead. President Fr. John Brown, S.J., welcomed families by sharing the purpose behind the school’s traditions and expectations: forming young men into men of faith and men for others. From discipline and personal responsibility to the everyday routines of campus life, Brown explained that each element serves the same goal of helping young men become more fully who God made them to be.
Principal Dr. Jeremy Reuther ’01 spoke about the partnership between parents and the school as their sons begin to develop greater independence. He encouraged parents to stay involved while giving their sons room to take ownership of their academics, decisions, and responsibilities. Director of Guidance Stephanie Strain, speaking both as a counselor and a Blue Jay parent, offered practical advice for navigating the transition. She encouraged families to establish healthy routines, focus on good habits rather than every individual grade, and help their sons learn to advocate for themselves. Both reminded parents that the challenges along the way are often opportunities for growth.
Director of Institutional Advancement Christian Bautista ’06 and Parents Annual Giving Drive chair David Joint ’93 also shared how the generosity of Blue Jay families helps sustain the school’s need-blind admissions structure and bring young men from all walks of life together on campus. Joint shared his family’s long-standing connection to the school, including his grandfather’s experience in 1932 as the beneficiary of aid.
Throughout both mornings, parents were reminded that they are an important part of this community and partners in their sons’ formation. As these new Blue Jays begin an important chapter, parents, teachers, counselors, and mentors will walk alongside them as they grow into the men they were made to be.
