Regular Order, Day 7

  • The Chess Club will meet today during the first half of lunch in Room 311.
  • The Classic Rock Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 203.
  • The J-Troupe, Jesuit’s elite improv comedy team, will meet today after school in Room 202.
  • Juniors are reminded that the service directory listing all information for approved service projects will be released on Monday. Come see Mr. Delatte once you know the project you wish to apply for. A service fair will be held Tuesday during lunch in the Hall of Honors for students to meet representatives of different camps and organizations to learn more about where they could apply. Please see Mr. Delatte if you have any questions.
  • All members of the Junior High and Junior Varsity Wrestling Team will meet briefly today after school in the wrestling room.
  • The varsity basketball team will host John Curtis tonight in the Benson Arena with tip off set for 7:00.  The jv game begins at 5:45.
  • The 9th grade basketball team will host St. Augustine this afternoon in the Benson Arena starting at 4:30.
  • The varsity rugby team plays at St. Paul’s on Saturday starting at 1:00.  The jv game follows at 2:45.
  • The 9th grade basketball team plays at Lakeshore on Saturday starting at 11:00, with the jv game following at 12:00.
  • The 8th grade basketball team will host St. Paul’s on Saturday starting at 9:00 and Brother Martin at 1:00 with both games being played in Benson Arena.

Results:

  • The 8th grade basketball team moved its record to 16-1 with weekend victories over Holy Cross and John Curtis and a mid-week defeat of Newman. Beau Smuck and David Vandeweghe scored 10 and 12 respectively in the 37-20 win over the Tigers. In a 39-24 defeat of the Patriots, Smuck scored 10 while James Cheatham added 9 and Dominick Bennett 6. Routing the Greenies 36-13, the Blue Jays allowed only 4 points in  the first 3 quarters; Dominick Bennett led all scorers with 8 and Will Feibleman provided 4th quarter fireworks with a deep 3.
  • On Wednesday, the basketball team defeated Rummel 52 -51 on a layup by Brennan Pitts with 1 second remaining. Brennan Led all scorers with 20 points including going 3 for 3 from the 3-point line.  Luke Wetmore led a second half come back with 3 big steals and hitting a couple of clutch baskets. Jack Maguire aided the defensive effort by picking up 2 charges.
  • The Jesuit Powerlifting Team competed at the Covington Invitational on January 17, where Brodie Evans placed third in the 275-pound weight class. At the Covington Qualifier on January 23, William Barnett placed first in the 165-pound weight class, Anderson Casebonne placed second in the 242-pound weight class, and Logan Boutte placed third in the 242-pound weight class.
