Football Defeats Warren Easton to Solidify Playoff Spot

It was a special night at Tad Gormley Stadium as Jesuit honored its seniors before kickoff, with players presenting flowers to their parents in a pregame ceremony. The Blue Jays showed grit and determination to put the last four games behind them, building an early lead and ultimately claiming a 45-36 victory over Warren Easton to close out the regular season.
Senior running back Gavin Palmisano opened the scoring late in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown to give Jesuit the early 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Jays’ ground attack proved fruitful again as sophomore running back Michael Cerruti broke off a 50-yard rushing touchdown of his own, extending the lead to 14-0. This running back duo worked together to again add a touchdown with just over a minute left in the half, as an 18-yard run by Cerruti moved the chains to set up a five-yard touchdown run by Palmisano to make the score 21-7 at half.
Coming out of the half, Jesuit remained in control. Senior quarterback Taylor Norton connected with senior receiver Roman Larre on a 36-yard touchdown pass to put the Jays up 28-7 early in the third quarter. Larre later returned a punt to set up another scoring drive, finishing it with a rushing touchdown with 4:15 left in the quarter. Senior running back Brock Prouet joined in on the fun, adding a four-yard score before senior kicker Ethan Cabos added another extra point for a 42-7 lead. Warren Easton responded with a touchdown late in the quarter to double their score.
Easton closed the gap with three fourth-quarter touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions, but Jesuit’s early lead held. Cabos added a field goal from inside the red zone late in the game to make it a 45-20 contest before Easton’s final scores brought the game to a 45-36 finish.
