A Blue & White Kind of Night

Hundreds of prospective Blue Jays enjoyed music, cheers, and athletic fun as John Ryan Stadium came alive for Blue & White Night. Upon arrival, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders were welcomed by the high energy of the Jayettes, the band, members of the football team, and the fan-favorite Jayson mascot. Students hopped between activities, fully immersing themselves in a world of Blue Jay spirit and fun.

The admissions director, Jonathan Hernandez ’00, engaged the audience with impressive facts about Jesuit’s rich history of state championships. Student-athlete sponsored booths provided an interactive experience, where current team members enthusiastically led activities and coaches were on hand to answer questions and share their passion for Jesuit athletics. Prospective students shot hoops, tested their throwing speed in the baseball batting cages, played small-sided football games on the turf, took shots on goal with lacrosse players, and tossed around the rugby ball. Beyond the traditional sports, the esports team offered students the chance to play Mario Kart on the jumbo screen.

Adding to the high-energy atmosphere were exciting performances by the Blue Jay band, Jayettes, and cheerleaders. Senior Student Council president Spencer Waguespack and his fellow e-board members led spirited cheers, keeping the crowd engaged throughout the evening. As the evening progressed, students refueled with hot dogs and hamburgers, then cooled down with refreshing Kona Ice snoballs. Each attendee left with a special memento: a blue and white t-shirt and Gizzard-approved Blue Jay arm sleeves, a perfect reminder of their action-packed experience.

Blue & White Night was an excellent opportunity for prospective students to get a taste of life as a Blue Jay. Students eager to learn more are encouraged to take the next steps in the admissions process by visiting campus for a tour or registering for other admission events like Open House on November 5.
