David Tran ’25, the son of Lana and Steven Tran and an alumnus of Arden Cahill, earned the rank of Eagle Scout in May 2025. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts BSA aims to develop leaders who cultivate a love of service through community volunteering, aligning closely with Jesuit’s cultivation of servant leadership as it forms Blue Jays into men for others.

To achieve the Eagle Scout rank, scouts must accumulate at least 21 merit badges in citizenship, family, personal responsibility, preparedness, physical fitness, and outdoor skills. Additionally they must plan, develop, and lead a service project—the Eagle Service Project—that demonstrates both leadership and a commitment to duty. After all requirements are fulfilled, scouts undergo it with a lengthy review process.

Tran achieved his rank after earning 21 badges. For his Eagle Service Project, Tran designed, organized, and led the construction of a community food pantry box for Trinity Community Center. At Jesuit, he was a member of the Asian Club and the president of the E-Sports team. Additionally, he frequently volunteers for Christ the King Church. Tran will attend Loyola University of Chicago to pursue a degree in accounting.
