Prospective Jays Fill Blue & White Night
On a lively fall evening at John Ryan Stadium, more than 400 middle schoolers explored what life as a Blue Jay looks like through sports, performances, and firsthand conversations with coaches and students.
More than 400 prospective Blue Jays filled John Ryan Stadium for Blue & White Night, an evening designed to give sixth, seventh, and eighth graders a firsthand look at the energy, community, and opportunities that come with being a Blue Jay. From the moment they arrived, students were welcomed by music, cheers, and plenty of activity as the stadium came alive for one of the fall’s biggest admissions events.
Admissions Director Jonathan Hernandez ’00 welcomed prospective students and their families to campus before Johnny Giavotella ’05, head of sports development, got the crowd fired up for the night. From there, students set out to explore stations hosted by athletic teams and student-athletes. Coaches and current Blue Jays were on hand throughout the evening to meet families, answer questions, and give younger students a chance to experience Jesuit athletics for themselves. Across John Ryan Stadium, prospective students moved from one activity to the next, testing their skills and getting to know the Blue Jays who currently compete in Jesuit’s athletic programs. Inflatables added to the fun, while the many team stations gave visitors an interactive glimpse into the wide range of opportunities available on campus.
Adding to the atmosphere were performances by the Blue Jay Marching Band, Jayettes, and cheerleaders. Senior Student Council president Calvin Magee and members of the Student Council Executive Board helped keep the crowd engaged and the Blue Jay spirit high throughout the evening. Students also cooled down with Kona Ice snoballs as they enjoyed the festivities with friends and future classmates.
