For the first time in school history, the golf team competed among the nation’s best at the 2026 Boys High School Golf National Invitational, finishing 12th out of 55 teams at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.

The invitation-only tournament brings together top high school teams and individual golfers from across the country based on their performances in state championship competition. The three-day, 54-hole stroke-play event featured team and individual competition on Pinehurst Courses No. 5 and No. 6, with more than 300 golfers participating.

Representing Jesuit were recent graduate Will Boasberg ’26, rising senior Duke Nitcher, rising juniors Brooks Blanchard and John Discon, and rising sophomore Augustin Gros.

The Jays opened the tournament with a team score of 300, positioning them in a tie for sixth among the 55-team field. Nitcher also delivered one of the team’s strongest individual performances during the opening round, finishing the day tied for 25th out of 309 golfers nationally. The Blue Jays continued their strong play during the second round, improving by five strokes with a team score of 295. Blanchard led the way with an impressive round of 69.

Following two rounds, Jesuit held a combined score of 595 and was tied for 14th in the national field when play was suspended because of weather delays. Continued inclement weather prevented the completion of the scheduled final round, and the Blue Jays concluded the weather-shortened tournament in 12th place nationally. Away from competition, the team also embraced a Pinehurst tradition by playing barefoot on the historic course, The Cradle.

The appearance at Pinehurst marked a significant milestone for the golf program and gave five Blue Jays the opportunity to represent Jesuit and Louisiana on one of the country’s most celebrated golf stages.
