Sailing Delivers Championship Performances, Earns National Berths

The sailing team turned in an outstanding series of performances this spring, capturing multiple championships and earning berths in both fleet and team racing national competitions.
In late March, Blue Jays competed in the Mississippi State Championship at Bay Waveland Yacht Club. The competition featured a fleet racing format with five schools competing in A and B Divisions, with the lowest combined score determining the overall winner.
On day one, the A Division team of senior David Karcher and freshman Jack Meade delivered a strong performance, while freshmen Reed Gibbs and Harrison Teske posted the lowest score in their division with 14 points. The combined efforts of both divisions secured a second-place overall finish for the Blue Jays. The racing shifted to a team racing format the following day, with four schools competing. Seniors, Aidan McKoin, Matthew Brown, Jonathan Brockhoff, and Karcher; junior Arthur Meade; and freshmen Jack Meade, Parker Lilly, Harrison Teske and Liam Moore—washed away the competition. The Blue Jays finished in first place with an impressive record of five wins and just one loss.
Sailing continued its momentum at the 2026 South East Interscholastic Sailing Association (SEISA) District Championship. In fleet racing, the Blue Jays captured first place, earning the opportunity to represent the SEISA District at the 2026 ISSA High School Fleet National Championship. Jesuit will be one of 20 schools competing at the national regatta, which will be held in New Orleans at the Southern Yacht Club on May 30-31.
Jesuit also claimed the SEISA Team Racing title, securing a second national berth. The Blue Jays will represent the district at the 2026 ISSA High School Team Racing National Championship, scheduled for May 15–17 at Christchurch School in Virginia, where they will compete among 12 of the nation’s top programs.
In addition to their success on the water, the program will celebrate two seniors making collegiate sailing commitments. David Karcher will continue his sailing career at Old Dominion University, while Aidan McKoin will compete at Rollins College.
