GOLF CLAIMS LHSAA DIVISION I STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Golf captured the LHSAA Division I state championship at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette, marking the program’s first state title since 2017 and the sixth overall in school history.

Guided by head coach Bryan Bairnsfather and assistants Hunter Hoffmann ’21 and Si Holmes ’21, the Blue Jays put together a complete performance, finishing with a two-day team score of 587 (+11) to secure the championship and cap off a and cap off an undefeated season that also included district and regional titles.

Junior Duke Nitcher led the way for the Jays, firing a two-under-par 142 to finish tied for second in the individual standings and earn top scorer honors for the team. Freshman Augustin Gros followed with a strong showing at +2 (146), while sophomore Brooks Blanchard posted a +3 (147). Senior William Boasberg and sophomore John Discon each contributed rounds of +9 (153) to round out the scoring for the Jays. All five Jesuit golfers finished among the top 25 individual competitors in the state tournament field.

The state championship performance builds on a season of consistency for the Blue Jays lineup of Nitcher, Gros, Blanchard, Boasberg, and Discon. Jesuit opened postseason play by capturing the Division I, District 4 title at Beau Chêne Country Club behind an even-par 72 from Nitcher, followed by another championship effort at regionals to advance to the state tournament.

With the victory, golf adds to its program’s championships, having secured titles in 2026, 2017, 2011, 2010, 1999, and 1998.
