Track & field delivered a solid, all-around performance at the LHSAA 5A – Region 3 Championships at Hahnville, showcasing depth across every category on the path to capturing the regional title. From the field events to the relays, and from sprints to distance, the Blue Jays piled up points throughout the meet. Multiple individual champions led the charge, including senior Spencer Waguespack in the shot put, senior Jude Cannon in the pole vault, junior Ja’ir Burks, who swept both hurdle events, senior Connor Fanberg in the 1600 meters, and junior David Quintana in the 3200 meters. The 4×800 relay team of senior Finn Connolly, juniors Patrick Smith and PJ Fitzmorris, and sophomore Rhys Grant also claimed gold, highlighting Jesuit’s strength in the distance events.

The Blue Jays’ success extended beyond first-place finishes, with numerous athletes securing top-three placements to qualify for next week’s state championships at LSU. Junior Oliver Hartman (javelin), Smith (1600), and the 4×100 relay team of seniors Drago Cvitanovich and Connor Pilié, and juniors Caleb Frilot and Burks all earned runner-up finishes, while additional podium performances came from Fanberg (800) and senior Joe Accardo (3200). The day also featured personal-best efforts from seniors Tyler Oufnac and Zachary LaGraize in the triple jump, underscoring the team’s continued improvement and depth heading into the state meet.
