Seven Period Day, Day 1B
- Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place today until 3 pm in the 2nd floor chapel.
- The Blue Jay Band invites you to our annual “Evening of Christmas Magic” this Saturday night at 6:00 PM in the Jesuit Auditorium. The evening will feature festive performances by the Philelectic Society , Concert Band, Jazz Band, and the Alumni Brass Ensemble, bringing you an unforgettable night of Christmas music and magic. The concert is completely free, so bring your family and friends. We encourage you to arrive early—not only to grab the best seats but also to join in the Christmas caroling led by the Philelectic Society before the show begins. Along with the great music, there is a very high probability of intense lighting effects as well as snow!
- Blue Jays, Don’t miss Twelve Angry Men starring E. Shankle, Neil Odeh, and Mr. Cragin’s Public Speaking class on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 6 PM in the auditorium. Get your tickets now on the JHS website and support your fellow Blue Jays in this powerful performance.
- Balfour will be on campus today during lunch in the auditorium to take senior ring and graduation announcement orders.
- The Anime Club will meet today during all of lunch in Room 116.
- The Classic Rock Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 203.
- The ultimate frisbee club will meet today during the second half of lunch at Will Clark field
- The Hall of Champions’ photos for cross country and swimming will take place on the Carrollton Ave. steps this afternoon at 3:30.
- The varsity soccer team will continue play in the Copa Acadiana Tournament this evening vs. Southside starting at 5:30. On Saturday afternoon the team will conclude tournament play vs. East Ascension starting at 2:00. Both contests will take place at the Burbank Soccer Complex in Baton Rouge.
- The varsity basketball team will continue play in the Catholic Tournament tonight in the Benson Arena. The team will conclude tournament play on Saturday afternoon. Admission is $10.00 each for adults and $5.00 each for Jesuit students with ID and children (ages 6-11).
- The 9th grade basketball team will compete in the Shaw Tournament on Saturday.
- The 8th grade basketball team will compete in the Rummel Tournament on Saturday.
- The deadline to sign up a team for intramural basketball is Saturday. 8th grade must sign up by homeroom.
Results:
- The 8th grade basketball team improved to 3-0 after earning two wins this week. On Tuesday, the team defeated St. Paul’s by a score of 37-24. Owen Koloski led the game in scoring with 9 points. Ben Royster added 7 points, and Caleb Puneky scored 6.
- On Wednesday, they defeated Hannan by a score of 45-39. The Jays received scoring contributions from nine different players. Grant Hayes led the team with 8 points. Owen Koloski, Ben Royster, Nate Braud, Cullen Wynne, and Cj Newsome all scored and defended well. Eli Webber controlled the pace of the game with multiple assists and accounted for 3 big time charges taken. And finally, Tyson Magee scored 7 4th quarter points and hit a clutch three pointer to ice the game.
- Last Saturday, fourteen students represented the Robotics Team at the First Tech Challenge Hammond Qualifier Tournament. After losing their first match, these Blue Jays won their remaining 8 matches often setting the high score. At the end of the day, they placed 1st overall in the Robot games and won the Control Award.
- The wrestling team had 70 Blue Jays compete in 4 events in 2 states this weekend. One team headed to Border Wars tournament in South Walton, Florida, where Christopher Stricker, Neils Bennett, Grant Carroll, and Gage Grilletta all placed in the top 6. Jude Levy won the championship at the Mandeville Open on Saturday and Jackson Landry and Benjamin Pullen both finished 4th.
- The Varsity lineup competed in the Trygg/Sara Invitational at Rummel on Friday and Saturday and came home with the team championship defeating Brother Martin and Brother Rice of Chicago by over 70 points. Michael Barnett, Max Belsome, Bodi Harris, Jose Rincon, Isaac Orillion, and Harris Treuting all walked away as individual champions. Brady Hunter, Quinn Anderson, Luke Cannizzaro, and Griffin Ellis all finished in 2nd place. JP Webre, Wyatt Mire, and Cam Himel finished in 3rd place. Congratulations, wrestlers.
