Regular Order, Day 1

  • Students planning on competing for Jesuit’s Powerlifting Team will meet today during the first half of lunch in the weight room.
  • All pre-freshmen and freshmen competing in the Brother Martin math tournament will meet today through Thursday during the second half of lunch in Room 330.
  • The Varsity Bowling Team will be holding try-outs for its upcoming season on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at AMF Allstar Lanes in Kenner.  All those who are interested must attend at least one of the try-outs.  All returning starters are required to be at both try-out sessions.  For more information or any questions, please email Coach Todd Bourgeois.
  • Any student who is interested in Egypt and/or is willing and able to help Mr. Trosclair with a project should report tomorrow at the beginning of either the first or second half of lunch to Room 214. Karkadeh will be provided.
  • A one-day extension is being made for those students who have not paid their printing fees for the month of October.  Please pay these fees in Room 215 before the end of the lunch hour today. Failure to do so will lead to a loss of computer services and a PH. 

Results:

  • Some of our French students recently participated in a city-wide high school oratory contest. They presented pieces of poetry and were judged by French native speakers. Sebastian FERNANDEZ and Nate COSTANTINI placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the French II category; Bassam AL HARIRI placed 2nd int the French III Immersion category and Frank YOUNG placed 1st in the French IV category. 
  • Last Wednesday, the varsity basketball team defeated Country day 63-53 to claim the championship of the Jesuit Invitational Tournament. Jude LaForge led all scorers with 19 and pulled down 12 rebounds as well. Gus Laibe contributed 11 points to the offensive effort. Defensively, the Jays were led by the play of Brennan Pitts.  Zachary LaGraize was named to the all-tournament team and Jude LaForge was named the tournament’s Most valuable Player. On Saturday, the team defeated East Jefferson 70-35 to improve its record to 5-0. The team was led offensively by the play of Brewer Nitcher who scored 11 points, while Jude LaForge added 10. Gus Laibe and Ethan Lapeze  each had 11 rebounds while PJ Varisco picked 2 charges in the win.
  • The wrestling team competed in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The team moved to 5-0 in dual meets with a 43-36 victory over Catholic High and a 44-24 victory over St. Thomas More of Lafayette. Brady Hunter, Michael Barnett, Max Belsome, Bodi Harris, Jose Rincon, Robert Morse, Isaac Orillion, Carter Corsetti, Patrick Matthews, and Jackson Calderaro all had wins on the day.
