On Wednesday, April 20, the MCJROTC year-end annual change of command ceremony returned to the Gayle & Tom Benson Arena after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. After enjoying the musical talents of the MJROTC band, family and friends watched with pride as Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Guernsey assumed the role of commanding officer from Cadet Colonel Joseph Finger. The two remaining battalion leaders, executive officer Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Peter Gravolet and Cadet Sergeant Major Samuel Mermilliod, turned over command to Cadet Major Maurizio Muzzetto and Cadet Sergeant Major Hayden Caron, respectively.

After the official change of command, 24 cadets were also honored with various awards and commendations. A highlight of the award ceremony was that three cadets—Joshua Bastidas, Anthony Guersney, and Maurizio Muzzetto—received the American Legion Wiliam M. Detweiler, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (a recently established scholarship) which awards each cadet with a $2,000 grant towards their Jesuit tuition.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Commons hosted by the MCJROTC Booster Club.
