On Tuesday, April 19, senior football player Caleb Tolbert was named the recipient of the $20,000 Oliver Delery Scholarship, the top award given to a high school student athlete by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Award winners were chosen based on essays submitted after being notified of their selection as scholar-athletes. Tolbert is a member of National Honor Society, a two-year letterman, a captain of the football team, a big brother, a member of Jesuit Men of Color, a Chevron Future Leader, and a POSSE Scholarship finalist.

“The best is yet to come for Caleb,” said head football coach Ryan Manale. “He leads by his actions both on and off the field.”

The award was presented to Tolbert by Jesuit alumnus Lloyd Frischhertz ’66, president of the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Manale and Tolbert gave an interview to Crescent City Sports, which is included below.
