NEW ORLEANS – Friday’s Division I football quarterfinal matchup between John Curtis Christian and Jesuit will be live streamed on Crescent City Sports and broadcast on NASH ICON 106.1 FM as part of Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report.

Coverage from Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans begins shortly before the 7 p.m. kickoff. Trahan, who serves as owner and CEO of Crescent City Sports and sports director of Cumulus New Orleans, will describe the play-by-play, with Wayde Keiser and Terry Ursin providing color commentary and V.K. Jones with sideline reports.

Jesuit (8-0), which captured its first Catholic League title in a decade under first-year head coach Ryan Manale, is the No. 2 seed in the Division I bracket and playing its first game of the 2021 playoffs after an opening round bye. Seventh-seeded John Curtis (5-3) defeated Holy Cross 54-14 in the opening round on Nov. 11, the 603rd career victory for legendary head coach J.T. Curtis.

Friday’s game is a rematch of an Oct. 15 meeting at Yulman Stadium in which the Blue Jays edged the Patriots 17-13. That snapped an eight-game Curtis winning streak in the series.

This will be the fourth all-time postseason meeting between the schools – all at different venues in the metro area – and the third time since 2018 the schools are meeting in the quarterfinal round.

Jesuit defeated Curtis 17-14 for the Division I state championship in 2014 at the Superdome. In 2018, the Patriots won 27-14 at Yulman Stadium, and a year later, Curtis took a 34-27 victory at Hoss Memtsas Stadium.

Friday’s winner advances to the Division I semifinals against either No. 3 seed Byrd or 11th-seeded Brother Martin.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 11th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced more than 350 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2021-22.
