Bowling Falls to Brother Martin in Playoffs, Luke Wood Places 2nd in Singles

LHSAA Team Tournament

The Jesuit bowling team wrapped up a successful season at the LHSAA team tournament at AMF Lanes in Kenner on Tuesday, April 20. After handily winning its morning match against Holy Savior Menard (20-7), the Jays fell to Brother Martin (23½-3½) in second-round action.

Four Jesuit bowlers have been named to the All-District First Team—senior Ben Hunn and juniors Gary Sims and Luke Wood. Sophomore Will Adams was named to the All-District Second Team. Also, a panel of coaches from other schools selected Ben Hunn as District Co-MVP. A record seven Blue Jay bowlers went on to compete in the LHSAA Singles Tournament. Representing Jesuit were the bowlers mentioned above plus senior Michael McGovern, junior Collin Pearce, and sophomore Will Carpenter.

LHSAA Singles Tournament

Congratulations to junior Luke Wood who finished second out of 81 of the state’s top bowlers to claim the state-runner up medal at LHSAA State Singles Bowling Championship Tournament in Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, April 27.

Wood averaged 246 pins over four games and finished just 14 pins behind the state champ from Central Lafourche. Fellow junior Gary Sims posted an impressive 886 series topping 200 in all four of his games. Senior Ben Hunn finished his season and an outstanding career at Jesuit with a final game tally of 257. Other members of the record-setting group were senior Michael McGovern, junior Colin Pearce, and sophomores Will Adams and Will Carpenter.
