Jesuit Tennis Places Second at Regionals

After an impressive regular season, the Jesuit Blue Jays brought the momentum to the Regional Round of the LHSAA playoffs.

Day one at Regionals produced ten wins for Jesuit out of 11 matches with the only loss being a 3-set nail biter with rival Brother Martin.

Day two also brought exciting tennis actions at City Park. Four out of five Jesuit entries made it to the semifinals including the doubles team consisting of seniors David Webster & Nicholas Crockens making it to the doubles championship match.

Jesuit will now move on to the state tournament in Monroe starting next week.

Results

Day One

James Bostick & Ethan Morgan d. Terrebone, & Thibodaux, 6-1, 6-0 both matches, lose in Quarters to Brother Martin, 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.

Grayson Chanove & Connor Cain d. Central Lafourche, 6-0, 6-0, and then Brother Martin, 6-1, 6-3 – advance to Semi Finals.

David Webster & Nick Crockens d. Northshore, 6-1, 6-1, and then Hahnville, 6-0, 6-0 – advance to Semi Finals.

Nick Kapusta d. Terrebone,, 6-0, 6-0, and Destrehan, 7-6 (6), 6-2 – advances to Semi Finals.

Josh Verges d. Northshore, 6-0, 6-0, and Hahnville, 6-2, 6-2 – advances to Semi Finals.

Day Two

Webster & Crockens d. Brother Martin #2, 6-4, 6-2 – advance to Finals.

Brother Martin #1 d. Chanove & Cain, 6-0, 6-1.

Brother Martin #1 d. Kapusta, 6-0, 6-0.

Brother Martin #2 d. Verges, 6-3, 6-3.

Brother Martin #1 d. Webster & Crockens, 6-4, 6-2 in Doubles Championship match.
