Golf Opens Spring Play, Remains Undefeated (10-0)
In a quest to win their dozenth district title in the last 13 years, the Jesuit golf team remains undefeated after its first two matches of the 2020 spring season. In the fall they won eight straight matches, sweeping St. Augustine, Holy Cross, Rummel, and Brother Martin for seven of those eight wins. The Blue Jays also edged out Newman, who they will face again in the spring, in a non-district away match.
The Jays opened the spring season on March 3 with a smooth victory over Rummel, and they secured their 10th win against St. Augustine on March 5.
Team captain Andrew Barreca and fellow senior Jude Donnaud posted the low number in the match against Rummel and St. Augustine, respectively. Barreca, who was three-under through holes #5 and #6 and #7, finished with a one-under 35 at Chateau Golf Club in Kenner. With a four-over 40, Donnaud led the starting five against St. Aug at Bartholomew Golf Course in Pontchartrain Park.
