Sports writer Lenny Vangilder of Crescent City Sports said it perfectly when he described Thursday’s showdown of bowling unbeatens Jesuit and Brother Martin. It looked more like a match in April than in January. It felt like one, too, as Blue Jay nation and the Crusader crowd packed AMF All Star Lanes to witness the January 30 district match.

After the match it was stated by reporters, coaches, and fans that Jesuit would have beaten any other Louisiana team on any other day. That may be true as the Crusaders bowled a state-record 4,012 team series. Jesuit set a school record with a 3,777 series, as Luke Wood led the Blue Jays with a 734 series and Ben Hunn rolled a 708. The Jays fell 20-7, but they are still in position to clinch the title of district runner-up.
