Regular Order, Day 6

  • Only one week left to turn in your submissions for Calliope! Jesuit’s literary magazine is seeking your poetry, fiction, essays, and art. Turn in all work by the end of the day next Friday. See Mr. Wyss or Mr. Bowes with any questions.
  • The Classic Rock Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 203.
  • The Heavy Metal Society will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 311.
  • Politics and Pastries will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 323. New members are always welcome.
  • The varsity basketball team will play at John Curtis tonight with tip off set for 7:45. The jv game will be begin at 6:30.
  • The varsity soccer team will play at Newman tonight starting at 7:00.
  • The varsity wrestling team will host and compete in the district championship tournament on Saturday in the Benson Arena.  Preliminary rounds start at 9:00, while the finals are set to start at 12:00.
  • The varsity tennis team will scrimmage Catholic on Saturday afternoon at City Park starting at 2:00.
  • The 8th grade basketball team will face Brother Martin at 10:00 and St. Paul’s at 12:00 on Saturday.  Both games will be played at Rummel.
  • The Disc Golf Club will play on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in City Park. New members are welcome.  See Mr. Wyss for information.
  • The Fencing Club will meet Monday after school in front of the library.
  • The due date for intramural basketball forms has been extended to Monday. Forms and fees are due to Room 112.

Results:

  • Congratulations to sophomore Matthew Busenlener for winning a Silver Key in the Scholastic Writing Awards with his flash-fiction piece, “A Solemn Farewell.”
  • Congratulations to senior Sonny Hazard for being selected to the first team LFCA All State football team. Also, congratulations to senior Max McMahon for being selected to the LFCA All State 2nd Team. This is a well deserved honor, chosen by the head football coaches of Louisiana.
