Sonny Hazard signed a national letter of intent to play football for University of Louisiana Lafayette. Jesuit’s head football coach, Mark Songy, had this to say about Hazard:

“Sonny Hazard has been such an invaluable part of our program for the last four years.  A four-year starter on our defensive front, he earned All-District honors for both his junior and senior seasons, as well as other well-deserved honors of recognition throughout his time with us.  He has been the anchor of our defensive front for all four of his seasons, serving as a leader and an example of why our team has played consistently physical and sound overall on defense.  As a team captain during his senior season, Sonny helped to lead our defense by providing an outstanding example for our younger players which will help to provide a basis of expectations as we move on without his presence.  UL is getting a fine player who will bring success to their program, both defensively, and in their locker room.  We will miss him, and we certainly wish him the best as he moves on to the next level.”
