The Jesuit High School (JHS) football team captured its fifth win on Saturday when the Blue Jays defeated the Shaw Eagles, 34-3, at Joe Zimmerman Stadium. Jesuit (5-3, 3-2) moves back above .500 in district play with two games left on the schedule.

The Jays scored five times in the first half—three touchdowns and two field goals—on the way to their most productive offensive performance all season. Senior quarterback Grant Jordan rushed for two touchdowns and threw one to junior receiver Luke Besh from seven yards out before the end of the first quarter.

It was a tremendous half for freshman kicker Aidan Corbello, who converted a 41-yard field goal and a 29-yarder in the last six minutes to give Jesuit a 27-0 lead. All told, Corbello completed a perfect game as he went 2-for-2 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points.

The Jays had a shutout brewing until Shaw’s kicker joined the field-goal fun on a 39-yard make with 2:52 remaining in the game. When analyzing post-game objectives, the Jesuit defense checked off all of the important boxes. They allowed less than 100 yards, prevented big plays, and forced a number of three-and-out situations. Defensive lineman Ethan Branch led the effort with four tackles, two for losses, and zero missed tackles.
