Swimmers Win 36th Straight District Title
Jesuit swimmers gave an impressive performance the District 9-5A Championship Meet at UNO on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Blue Jays took the day, and with it their 36th straight district championship with 616.5 points. Their closest competitor, Holy Cross, trailed Jesuit by 195 points.
Jesuit took first place in six of the eight individual events. Senior Mike Foley dominated the short-range freestyle events, taking first in the 50 Yard and 100 Yard events. Freshman Joseph Capo had a good day himself, earning first in the 200 Freestyle and second in the 500. Junior Philip Endom swam to the top spot in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Individual Medley. Sophomore Zachary Davis rounded out the list of top Jesuit finishers with his first in the 100 Yard Breastroke, while fellow sophomore Egan Trahant scored big for the Jays with a second in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
The relay teams also accounted for much of the Blue Jays’ lead, adding first place finishes in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The Jesuit 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team took second. There was much to be proud of as swimmers gave it all they had in the pool at UNO.
