Jays Extend District Streak with Win over Rummel
LIVE STREAM LINK FOR FRIDAY NIGHT BASKETBALL VS. HOLY CROSS
On Tuesday night, the Jesuit basketball team (6-2, 25-4) notched their third straight district victory with a win over Archbishop Rummel, 61-38. A combination of staunch defense and precision second-half shooting made the difference in the contest for Jesuit. The Jays also made 21 free throws to Rummel’s 4.
The Jays shot out front in the opening quarter with a pair of three pointers by seniors Noah Varnado and Robert McMahon. Jesuit’s relentless full court pressure ensured a 14-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter.
The Raiders did not go quietly, though, pushing back to get within one point by halftime. But the 3rd Quarter was all Jesuit. Zachary DeBlieux knocked down a three-pointer early in the quarter before Elijah Morgan drilled back to back threes on his way to 13 point in the 3rd Quarter alone.
The Jays extended their lead from the foul line in the 4th Quarter to seal the 61-38 victory.
