On Saturday, Feb. 24, two teams of Jesuit student attorneys competed in the regional mock trial tournament held at the Jefferson Parish courthouse in Gretna.  After two preliminary rounds involving 14 teams, both teams advanced to the final four.  In the semi-final round, the all senior team of attorneys Nathan Alvarez, Gabe Dupuy, and Manuel Molina and witnesses Chandler Boudreaux, Ethan Erhardt, and Nick Leonik edged out its brother team of attorneys Michael Daley, Donovan Reynolds, Hunter Richardson, and Aqib Zakaria and witnesses Owen Ettinger, Michael Paul Fine, Bradley Fugetta, and Ben Wombacher.

In an extremely close final round, Jesuit narrowly lost to Haynes Academy but will advance to the State Mock Trial competition on March 10th.  Jesuit’s younger team finished third.  In individual awards, Manual Molina was named best attorney and Ethan Erhardt tied for best witness.

The team is coached by Brett Wise ’82, Mike Mentz ’74, John Becknell ’05, and Jeffrey Hufft ’98.
