Freshman James Bostick chalked up his first varsity win in the Jays’ season-opening victory over St. Augustine.

Jesuit’s tennis team opened its season with a 7-0 win over St. Augustine on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the UNO Tennis Center.

The Brothers Bostick accounted for three of the Jays’ seven wins on the day. Junior William Bostick chalked up an 8-1 win at Line 1 singles. Younger brother James, a freshman playing in his first varsity match, picked up an 8-0 win at Line 4 singles and teamed up with freshman Ethan Morgan for an 8-1 win at Line 2 doubles.

Freshman Keating Landry also got into the mix, posting an 8-1 win at Line 2 singles, as did sophomore Christian Cannon, who won 8-2 at Line 3 singles. Landry and Cannon also paired up at Line 1 doubles for an 8-3 win. St. Augustine forfeited Line 3 doubles.

Next up is the McGill-Toolen Invitational in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday, Feb. 23. The Jays will field four separate teams comprising 33 Blue Jays at the two-day tournament, which draws teams from five states.
