Davis Martin and Alex Welsh, two of Jesuit’s most recent graduates from the Class of 2017, were recently recognized by Gambit Weekly as two of 40 local entrepreneurs under the age of 40. “Gambit’s 40 Under 40, Class of 2017” is the newspaper’s annual look at “the city’s movers and shakers,” as the article’s subtitle states. Martin and Welsh were the youngest New Orleanians recognized.

“Movers and shakers” is an accurate description for each subject featured, including Martin and Welsh who earned their spot on the list for their selfless work as co-founders of Hams for Fams. The organization is a nonprofit with the goal of assembling and delivering food baskets for needy families. The nonprofit’s mission and goals, which along with other info can be found at www.hamsforfams.org, is to “use the blessings given to those in the community to help feed those in need.” Though Martin and Welsh have graduated from Jesuit, their organization lives on, thanks to a new crop of seniors.

Jesuit High School congratulates Davis Martin ’17 and Alex Welsh ’17 on their recognition in the Gambit and, more importantly, their nonprofit’s mission and success.
