Tennis Takes Slim Lead Into Day Two of Regionals

Jesuit advanced both of its singles players and two of its three doubles teams to Wednesday’s regional semifinals at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center, where head-to-head match-ups with Brother Martin await in three of four semifinal contests. The Jays have a precarious one-point lead over the Crusaders (14-13).

In singles play, top-seeded Jojo Sandoz will face off with St. Augustine’s Allen Miller (the No. 3 seed), while second-seeded Graham Buck takes on Brother Martin’s Ethan Bosch, (the No. 4 seed). Both matches are at 8:00 a.m.

The doubles takes to the court at the same time. Top-seeded Jack Steib and Trey Hamlin will face off with Brother Martin’s Line 2 doubles team of Corey Canzoneri and Christopher Russo. Jesuit’s Line 2 team, Andrew Ryan and Christian Lacoste, take on second-seeded Ben Chanes and Zachary Brubaker of Brother Martin. Jesuit’s Line 3 team, Leo Seoane and James Henican, advanced to the quarterfinals before losing a tight match to Canzoneri and Russo.

The finals will be at 10:30 a.m.
