Junior Gerard Miller bowled a 210 game and 571 series against Salmen on Feb. 21.

A tight match that ended in a difference of only 20 total pins, Blue Jay bowling was edged out by the Salmen Spartans in their eighth match of the season. The match took place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Bowling USA in Slidell.

Led by Adam Francis’s 200 game, the Jays took game one with five points to Salmen’s three. Though junior Gerard Miller shot 210, game two saw a reversal in which Salmen nudged out Jesuit by only four pins, taking five points and tying the Jays, 8-8. Game three was all Salmen, though, as the team handily took seven of the available eight points. Despite Jesuit racking up more total pins — 3041 to 3021 — Salmen was able to hang on to their second place spot behind Brother Martin by winning the match, 15-12.

Miller fired off a total series of 571, while juniors Mason French and Alex Barron bowled a 520 series and 501 series, respectively. Francis bowled a total series of 516.

The Blue Jays (5-3) face Brother Martin on Thursday, Feb. 23, at All Star Lanes in Kenner.
