It’s time to connect with today’s basketball Blue Jays and to enjoy being part of a program that has such a rich history at Carrollton and Banks.

You and your family are invited to the Jesuit Basketball Homecoming on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.  This year’s homecoming celebration features a reception, a “basketball” gift for each basketball alumnus, lots of Blue Jay Spirit, and a chance to cheer on this year’s basketball Jays as they take on district rival Holy Cross. A special treat will be the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Bird Cage (aka: the Jesuit High School Recreation Center and the gym). The evening’s events will feature a retrospective of the big moments in the gym and a look at the upcoming major renovation of the 60 year-old building. The Homecoming celebration will unfold as follows:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Basketball alumni, their families (including those who cheered them on when they played – their parents), and the 2017 Jesuit team and their families meet in the Student Commons for a reception. Food and refreshments will be served compliments of the Advancement Office and the parents of today’s players.
  • Each former Blue Jay basketball player will receive one game ticket, compliments of Greg Gillen ’79, basketball alumni representative.
  • Each former Blue Jay basketball player will receive a gift from this year’s basketball program.
  • 6:30 p.m. – AD Dave Moreau, alumni director Mat Grau, and basketball alumni representative Greg Gillen ’78 will address the attendees in the Commons.
  • 6:40 p.m. – Coach Chris Jennings invites all basketball alumni (former player only, please) to the locker room to greet this year’s team.
  • 6:50 p.m. – Basketball alumni and their families sit in pull-out bleachers across from this year’s team.
  • 7 p.m. – Tipoff begins the game between the Blue Jays and the Tigers.

Tickets will be available at the box office and in the Commons during the reception: $6 for adults, $3 for children (6-12 years of age), free for children under 6.

Plan on celebrating Blue Jay basketball at the Jesuit Basketball Homecoming on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Please pass the word to other alumni of the Jesuit basketball program.
