Track and Field Grabs Fourth Place Finish at Regional Meet

Several members of the Blue Jay track and field team shined at the Regional Track and Field Meet at Thibodaux High School on Wednesday, April 27. In addition to the team’s fourth place finish, 10 Jays advanced to the Class 5A state meet at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track in Baton Rouge on May 7 by finishing in the Top 3 of their events.

Scoring in the regional meet were: junior Andrew Stapp in the pole vault; junior Denny McGinnis in the javelin; senior Malachi Hull in the triple jump; and the 4×200 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Garrett Crumb and juniors Max Bell, Reed Meric, and Jandon Briscoe.

Advancing to next Saturday’s state track and field meet are: senior Mark Jaunet, who placed third in the javelin; senior Carlos Zervigon, who placed third in the 3200 meter run; and the 4×400 meter relay team, along with alternates seniors Nick Slay and Richmond Wall, who took second place; Meric, who won the 800 meter run; and Briscoe, who placed second in the 200 meter dash and won the 400 meter dash.

In addition, sophomore Alex Klein qualified for the State Para-ambulatory Track and Field Meet on Thursday, May 5. Klein will compete in the discus, javelin, and 100 and 200 meter dashes.
