The Jesuit lacrosse program rolled out the blue carpet for its 16 seniors on Wednesday, March 23, at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner. However, the visitors from Memphis, Tennessee put on a show of their own. Christian Brothers beat the Blue Jays, 8-6.

Senior and captain Max Murret had two goals, an assist, and three ground balls for the Jays. Scoring single goals were seniors Dominic Sunseri and Sammy Martin, juniors Noah Martin, Parker Simoneaux, and Michael Smart.

“It was a fun game to watch, but not the outcome we were looking for,” said head coach Steve Krobert ’05. “We played hard and made a run at the end, but it wasn’t enough to get us a victory.”

Senior Connor Martinez and sophomore Aiden Roberts joined Murret, scooping up three ground balls each.

Senior Rob Hinub saved eight shots in goal.

Christian Brothers controlled the center stripe, winning 12 of 18 face-offs.

The seniors on the 2016 squad, in alphabetical order, are Taylor Anderson, Thomas Cassagne, Jeremy Scheffler, Gray Cressy, Josh Cvitanovich, Kent Flower, Paul Gelpi, Rob Hinyub, Spencer Lamoine, Sammy Martin, Connor Martinez, Max Murret, Dominic Sunseri, Alex Vargas, Kyle Westholz, and David Zazulak.

Jesuit faces district opponent Pascagoula in Mississippi on Saturday, March 26. Face-off is scheduled for noon. The Jays are 4-0 in district play.
